Corporación Aceros de Guatemala (AG), in collaboration with the Superintendencia de Administración Tributaria (SAT), has implemented the Integrated Verifier system to cross-check tax information in real time. This agreement, signed on August 8, is aimed at confirming the validity of purchase invoices and the tax status of suppliers with whom AG conducts business transactions.
Aceros de Guatemala Case: Leadership in the Sector
AG is the first company in the steel industry to implement this system on a large scale. According to Gabriela Roca, the company’s director of corporate affairs and sustainability, this represents a step towards a transparent tax culture that benefits society as a whole.
Ease of Use and Computer Security
The Integrated Verifier, said Oscar Hernandez, Intendant of Taxation, has a user-friendly interface and high standards of computer security, which reinforces SAT ‘s commitment to broaden the tax base and promote fair competition.
Continuous Validation of Tax Documents
The operation of the system, explained by Fabiola María López Ramírez, AG’s accounting manager, allows any company to review online the validity of the tax documents of the taxpayers with whom it carries out operations, as well as to validate their tax identification number (NIT). This tool provides continuous validation and ensures tax compliance.
Collaboration with SAT and Efficiency in Consultations
The implementation of the Integrated Verifier was carried out in collaboration with the SAT team, allowing the generation of specific reports and queries for AG providers. Since its launch in 2020, this system has streamlined tax queries, now allowing massive taxpayer queries in a more efficient and transparent manner.
Commitment to Tax Compliance and Safety
AG seeks to be a benchmark in tax compliance, guaranteeing legal commercial transactions and encouraging the adoption of this system by other sectors. With more than 1,000 suppliers, the company can consult with any frequency. In terms of cybersecurity, Claudio Aguerriberry, AG’s technology solutions manager, assures that the system has guaranteed security measures and can be programmed to perform automatic queries on specific dates.
Governance in Accounting Operations
Regarding the governance of accounting operations, AG has strengthened its controls with the implementation of an integrated management system that includes disciplines such as environment, sustainability, quality and anti-bribery. Certain requirements are imposed on suppliers, such as legal representation and up-to-date tax solvency, to ensure that operations are in compliance with the law.
Conclusion
In summary, the implementation of the Integrated Verifier represents a significant advance in transparency and tax compliance for Aceros de Guatemala, positioning it as a leader in its sector and promoting a culture of compliance throughout the industry.
